Teddy Bears' Picnic

A party that not only the children will enjoy; this three hour excursion combines the magic of a teddy bears picnic in the woods with a relaxing river cruise on the beautiful Betsie Jane.  With your picnic and celebration cake taken care of you can sit back and enjoy the party as we transport you to a bygone era where children can marvel in the beauty and enjoyment of the natural world!

Meet Eric, Betsie Jane’s 1930s Teddy Bear, along with your professional Skipper and Mate at our Event’s Centre in Hamble Point Marina at the entrance to the River Hamble.  After getting our littlest of passengers into lifejackets head down to Betsie Jane to start your journey.  Once everyone is comfortably aboard we slip lines and start our cruise along the ever changing River Hamble.  With a chance to wave at the passing yachtsmen, spot the little pink ferry as it takes its passengers from Hamble to Warsash, perhaps even see the train as it carries its passengers along the banks of the River and an abundance of wildlife all around, there is something to keep even the very smallest adventurer engaged in the trip.  For the older adventurer there is even a chance to spot the pub and boatyard from the popular TV drama Howards Way.   As we make our way to the upper reaches of the River Hamble the pace of the River slows dramatically.  From a yachtsman’s paradise the River becomes a picture of tranquility with woodland lining both banks of the River, providing a real “Swallows and Amazons” feel.

Here the River Cruise stops and your adventure continues on land.  We will provide you with a special Teddy Bear’s map as you adventure into Manor Farm Woods which line the banks of the River Hamble.  Our Skipper and Mate will load your picnic hamper into our special off road trolley so that you can create your own unforgettable Teddy Bear’s picnic, accompanied by Eric, who is celebrating his 87th birthday this year!

With a number of sites to choose from, you can find the perfect location to enjoy your delicious picnic and cake, lovingly prepared by award winning Chef Alexandra Baker at the local Pastry Corner.  With acres of woods providing a natural playground to explore, alongside a large field to enjoy some family games and an adventure playground, there is plenty to keep you busy during a one and a half hour stop.  After plenty of fun ashore it is time to enjoy a relaxing cruise back to Hamble Point Marina.

Quality family time, with outdoor adventure at the heart of an amazing experience reminiscent of a bygone era.
