Blue Box Sailing, founded in 2003, is run by a dedicated team of water sports enthusiasts, who are all involved in not only the business side of running Blue Box Sailing, but also getting out on the water and running our sailing and powerboat experiences. All the experiences sold on blueboxexperiences.co.uk are run by Blue Box Sailing aboard Betsie Jane, a 1930s Gentleman's Launch or one of our three Clipper 60s Serica, Taeping or Mermerus. Betsie Jane is licensed for commercial operations with 10 passengers and 2 crew aboard, Serica and Mermerus licensed for commercial trips with up to 12 passengers and 2 crew aboard. Our all vessels regularly undergo licensing inspections and surveys to ensure standards are met. Our staff are all licensed and experienced in operating our boats and are trained to ensure you get the maximum enjoyment out of your trip. All our experiences are run from our base at Hamble Point Marina in Hamble, near Southampton, Hampshire.
All bookings on blueboxexperiences.co.uk come with a free pdf gift pack by email. You can also order a postal gift pack for £2.50.
If you make a booking for a specific date you will also be sent a booking confirmation email confirming the date of your booking and a link to online joining instructions.
Delivery methods and options
Presentation packs are delivered by First Class Post: Please allow up to 5 working days for delivery. We despatch via Royal Mail 1st Class Post and we would normally expect your order to arrive the next day, however this is not guaranteed. If you order before 1pm Monday to Friday your order will be despatched the same day. If you order after 1pm on a Monday to Thursday, your order will be despatched the following day. If you order after 1pm on a Friday or on a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday your order will despatched the next working day (normally the Monday, unless it is a bank holiday).
E-voucher: E-vouchers are sent as a pdf attachment to an email and can be printed out or stored electronically. We aim to send all E-vouchers within 4 working hours of order during office hours, which are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Orders placed over the weekend will be sent on Monday. If you urgently require your E-voucher please email email@example.com or call 0280 988966 and we will try and email your voucher asap.
Orders where a gift option is not selected will receive a booking confirmation by email. This will be sent within 4 working hours of the order being placed during office hours, which are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. The booking confirmation email confirms the date and time of your booking and a link to online joining instructions.
Online availability is displayed directly from our reservations system and we endeavour to ensure it is up to date and accurate at all times. If you would like to book a date that is not displayed online please contact us on 02380 988 966 and we will confirm if there is any availability. In the unlikely circumstances that the date you have requested is unavailable we will contact you by e-mail as soon as possible, but no later than 4 working hours after your order was placed (working hours are considered to be 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday), and let you know that we are unable to confirm your reservation. At this stage you may choose to cancel your order or to change your reservation to an alternative date. Blue Box Sailing recommend you do not make any hotel or travel reservations until you receive a booking confirmation for your experience.
Payment for all orders can be made using a credit or debit card or by cheque or postal order. We are able to accept the following card types: Visa (Credit and Debit), MasterCard, American Express, Electron, Maestro or Solo.
When payment is made by credit or debit card, if you order before 1pm, Monday to Friday, your order will be processed and any gift pack despatched the same working day. If you order after 1pm, or on a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday, your gift pack will be despatched the following working day. If there is a problem with despatching your order, we will notify you by phone, or failing that by email as soon as possible.
Changing your mind
If you are not happy with a gift voucher or booking you are entitled to a full refund if you contact us within 14 days of purchase.
If you have made a reservation for a specific date, which is less than 14 days away then a full refund will only be available up to 5 days prior to the start of the trip. Requests for refunds must be made in writing via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to Blue Box Sailing Ltd, Hamble Point Marina, School Lane, Hamble, SO31 4NB. Refunds are always made to the person who purchased the experience, and if originally purchased by credit or debit card, the refund will be credited to the same card.
If you have booked a specific date and need to change the date of your booking more than 14 days before the trip date this is no problem at all and we make no charge. Simply drop us an email or give us a call to confirm the date you would like to change your booking to.
Less than 14 days prior to your trip there is a £15 per person fee to change the date of a booking aboard Betsie Jane and £30 per person fee to change the date of a booking aboard any of our Clipper 60s. You can make a change to a participant right up until the day of the trip and this does not incur any charge.
Included in the price
The price of all our experiences includes a professional Skipper and Mate, all boat running costs, including marina fees and fuel, boat insurance to cover major damage to the boat and its equipment, including third party liability and all safety equipment. All on board food and drinks listed on the individual product pages are also included in the price.
We endeavour to run all trips on their scheduled date and have a waterproof cover that can be used aboard Betsie Jane in the case of rain. However we may occasionally have to postpone a trip in exceptional weather conditions which may present a danger to the passengers, vessel or her crew. As a guide a trip may be postponed in the event of dense fog, strong gales or thunder storms.
When possible the decision to postpone a trip will be made the evening before the trip and if possible a member of staff will contact you in advance. In the event that your trip is postponed due to weather you will be able to select an available future date, but no refunds will be given. You will be sent a list of alternative dates at the time of cancellation and it is your obligation to contact Blue Box Sailing within one month of the cancellation to schedule the new date. It is the Skippers' decision to run, continue or cease a voyage. Their decision is final.
Blue Box Sailing Ltd will endeavour to minimise the effects of matters outside of its control on an experience, which include, storms, strong winds, lack of wind, fog, mechanical failure and any other events not capable of avoidance by the company. In the event of any such Force Majeure Blue Box Sailing Ltd shall not be liable to pay any refund or compensation to you, but where appropriate will offer you the option of an another voyage.
All participants must be over 12 years of age for the Afternoon Sailing Experience, Solent Sailing Experience and Ocean Race Yacht Solent Match Race. Any participants aged 12-17 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All participants must be over 14 years of age for the Breakfast Cruise and Afternoon Cake Cruise. Any participants aged 14-17 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All participants must be over 16 years of age for the Round the Isle of Wight Match Race. Any participants aged 16-17 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All participants must be over 18 years of age for the Evening Gin and Jazz cruise as alcohol is available during this trip. Please be aware that we run a challenge 25 policy and if you look under the age of 25 our professional crew may require to see your identification before you board the vessel.
All participants must accept the authority of the Skipper of the vessel and all other employees of Blue Box Sailing Ltd throughout the duration of the voyage. At all times the decision of Blue Box Sailing Ltd’s Skippers is final. We reserve the right to refuse an experience to anyone deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, in this case you have no entitlement to a refund. Where required appropriate safety equipment must be worn, no exceptions will be made. Refusal to wear the required safety equipment may result in the termination of your voyage.
All attendees must abide by the rules and regulations explained in the briefing. If you or any participant booked by you cause damage to any vessel or its equipment, whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or disobeying the instructions of a member of Blue Box Sailing Ltd staff, the costs of repair will be borne by you. If you commit an illegal act, which includes carrying or taking drugs on board the boat, continually disregard the instructions of your Skipper or interfere with the well being of the crew, through disruptive or difficult behaviour, the skipper reserves the right to terminate your voyage and Blue Box Sailing Ltd shall have no responsibility to or for you. In such an event you will have no right to any refund.
Blue Box Sailing Ltd is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in our privacy statement - see privacy page. We conform to the requirements of the Data Protection Act, 1998.
Spam (unwanted emails)
During the product ordering process you will have the option to opt into our email mailing list. If you choose to join the mailing list, we will only send you emails with special offers and relevant marketing information regarding our own products. Your email address will not be given to any third parties, or be abused by us sending you hundreds of unwanted emails.

Problems with order
If you experience any problems using our online shop, please either email us on email@example.com or call us on 02380 988 966. After you have confirmed and paid for your order, you will be sent a confirmation email from us with a copy of your order and delivery address.
Are my credit card details and personal information secure?
This website takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line. When our order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. While on a secure page, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when you are just 'surfing'. While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Our online shop links direct into Pay Point card processing facilities using encryption technology via our shopping cart facility run by FoxyCart, to enable secure transfer of your personal data over the Internet.
We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998).
